GLIDES, the Global Learning Initiative through Digital Education for Students, is a research-based replicable model for creating 21st century classrooms in which analytical thinking, broward county schools apple logoextended learning, knowledge application, and communication skills are embedded in curriculum. GLIDES is one of the instructional technology programs supporting the district Educational Technology Plan to transform schools into 21st century learning environments.

GLIDES blends project-based learning and innovative technology use. During GLIDES, teachers gain pedagogical and technology literacy through in face-to-face workshops and in-classroom coaching and mentoring and apply these skills in a project-based unit implemented with their students.

The development of GLIDES was influenced by JDL Horizons’ Learning Symphony offering. JDL also produced a series of documentary-style videos showcasing administrators, teachers and students involved. Results show enhanced engagement not only by students, but teachers and administrators, and substantial improvement in learning outcomes. Below is a sampling of these videos.
